Mexico City will face a new classification of garbage in favor of the environment. The new classifications will be organic , recyclable inorganic - such as PET bottles or cardboard - , non-recyclable inorganic - such as cigarette butts and diapers - and special or bulky handling , such as mattresses and furniture. To achieve this, 2,589 garbage collection trucks will be adapted with boxes to receive the new classifications. This will not affect the warranties or the operation of the trucks. During the week, waste of all classifications will be collected , except for special or bulky handling; these wastes will be collected on Sundays. Each resident of CDMX produces 1.45kg of garbage per day , according to data from the Urban Management Agency (AGU). Nearly 30 thousand workers, unionized and volunteers, involved in the waste management process, will receive training on the importance of separation and management of urban waste.
